New technology can enhance our musical experiences in many positive ways.

For transcribing music, being able to isolate instrument tracks is extremely helpful because you can catch details that are buried in the mix. However, you still have to have a trained ear to know what you’re hearing.

For “Houses of the Holy”, I always felt like what I was playing for the verse was not quite right. It wasn’t until I generated an isolated track for the rhythm guitar part that I was able to solve one more mystery. The funny part of the video is, when I said “You’re playing it wrong!”, I was really referring to myself!
